Governance and Leadership in Education

■ The project goal

The main implementation goal of this project is building local capacities in the field of governance and leadership of educational institutions in a close cooperation with KEDP (Kosova Educator Development Project) and MEST
(Ministry of Education, Science and Technology).

 
■ Description of the project

Governance and Leadership in Education is being implemented in Kosova since the year 2002 and is financed by Kosovo Foundation for Open Society – KFOS. The selection of the participants in the project is based on criteria such as region, gender, age, level of educational institution they represent etc.


■ First generation

The first generation consisted of 30 participants with a structure of representation as follows: 10 primary school directors, 7 high school directors, 5 education administrators of local level, 5 education advisers and 3 outstanding teachers.

This training was led by international and local trainers which realized 8 modules with 25 training days (144 hours).

The first generation certification was made in June 2003.


■ Second generation

The second generation of administrators started the training on December 20, 2003. It has been attended by 30 participants: 4 members of Regional Education Offices, 2 directors of Municipal Directorate for Education, 7 high school directors, 13 primary school directors, 1 deputy director and 3 outstanding teachers.

The certification of the second generation was made in June 2005.

 
■ Third generation

The third generation of administrators started the training on October 1, 2005. It is being attended by 27 participants. The training consists of 9 modules with 132 hours of training.

At the end of the training, all participants who have attended 80% of the seminars and participated in at least 2 half-days meetings will be certified.
