4.
Advancing Participation and Representation of Ethnic
Minority Groups in Education
The project “Advancing participation and
representation of ethnic minority groups in
education” (APREME) started to be implemented in May

5.
KOSOVISION CONTEST
KOSOVISION CONTEST is an educational project that
was started in September 2008 and is expected to be
finalized in May 2011 and which is implemented in
the form of a national competition broadcasted by
the media. The concept for this project was
developed by the Education University of Zurich, and
was first implemented in cooperation with KFOR in
2007 in the Prizren Region. Students and teachers of
the fifth grades in Kosovo participate in this
project dealing with the present and future of

6.
Sector-Wide Approach in Education (SWAP)
In May 2009, the European Commission Liaison Office
(ECLO) in Prishtina announced its tender for a three
year project “Support for implementation of the
sector-wide approach in education in Kosovo” with
the purpose to provide assistance to the Kosovo
government in ensuring quality provision in
education. In fact, this support comes from the
package of IPA 2008 fund that aims to facilitate the
process of accession of the country in the European
Union. The tender was announced for a service
contract with specific Terms of Reference drafted by
the ECLO, whereas KEC applied as part of a
consortium lead by Cambridge Education Ltd...

Creation of Safe, Non-violent, and Human
Environments in Society and in Schools
The project proposal was designed end of 2007,
whereas UNICEF settled to support it on 9 September
2008.
The very name of the project tells how intricate and
complex the project was. Significant support to the
project implementation was provided by the
representatives of UNICEF, who participated and
offered useful ideas in all key events and

Advancing History Teaching

climate in learning and teaching of history by

9.
The concept of citizenship among secondary school
students in Kosovo
The Kosovo Education Centre, the University of

10.
Access Microscholarship Program
ACCESS programme started too be implemented in 2006.
The programme is financed by the US Embassy in
Kosovo, and is being implemented by KEC. In the
school year 2007/08 the programme included around 60
students from three Kosovo municipalities: Prishtina,
Prizren and Fushë Kosova, who benefited from this
programme for two years. Students come from various
communities living in Kosova: Albanian, Serb,
Turkish, and Bosniac... |

KEC Training Programs
KEC is implementing over 20 training programs. They
include specific training programs for modern
teaching and evaluation methodologies (training
programs for efficient leadership in education,

KEC Library
KEC has established within its premises a Library
(with around 1200 books) and equipped with
computers, which can also be used as a reading room
for the teachers participating in trainings and

13.
School development grants project
On 14 June MEST signed an agreement with KEC for
implementation of a component of a World Bank
project for development of education institutions.
With World Bank financing, 151 primary and secondary
schools in Kosova will receive financial support
during next 19 months, for implementing school
projects that aim for the increase of quality in
education. KEC role will be in offering professional
support to schools in drafting developmental plans
and project proposals that will be supported
financially by World Bank. Schools will also get
training for monitoring their project implementation
as well as for evaluating project impact in increase
of education quality
