The closing ceremony for the “Promoting the Rights of the Child in the Field of Education" project was organized on the 5th of July 2011 in Hotel “Victory” in Prishtina.
The project started 30 months before and is implemented by the Kosovo Education Centre (KEC), in partnership with the Kosovo Association for Human and Child Rights (KAHCR) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST), with the financial support of the European Commission as part of the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) and managed by the European Commission Liaison Office (ECLO). In addition to the achievements of the project, the latest monitoring report on child rights in education was also presented, which was developed as part of the project.

On 11th of June 2011, in the Red hall of Youth and Sport Center in Prishtina with the Award Ceremony the third round of KOSOVISION CONTEST ended successfully. All 85 classes got a diplome and 24 project got the KOSOVISION Award. On 4th of December 2010, in the Red hall of Youth and Sport Center in Prishtina, a ceremony of first cycle awards for the Kosovision Contest was organized. Besides for 80 winning schools, other awards have been delivered. Three schools were awarded with a ski weekend. For more information visit the project website http://kosovision.org/

On 23 September 2010, was organized a public discussion on monitoring Report of the situation of children’s rights in the field of education within the project “Promoting Children’s Rights in the field of Education”, financed by European Commission, respectively European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIHDR).
The discussion was organized in Hotel “Victory”, in Prishtina, where participants were representatives from MEST, representatives from ECLO, school principals, teachers and students.
 


Mr. Dukagjin Pupovci, Executive Director of Kosova Education Center presented the report. Following the presentation and findings from the report, a discussion was opened where participants asked questions, commented findings as well as gave some recommendations for the report. Majority of participants were grateful for the work done, since it will serve them for their daily work, especially teachers and school principals to make eventual interventions in their schools. The discussion was closed with a small cocktail event.

It is worth mentioning that, besides comments and recommendations during this discussion, also schools that have participated in the survey will have an opportunity to make comments and recommendations. At the end, all these recommendations will be included in the report. After it is finalized, the report will be published and will be available for everyone who is interested. EU EDUCATION SWAp Project was launched on 27 May 2010. Participants in this event talked about the aims and objectives of this project.
Minister of Education, Mr. Enver Hoxhaj said that this project of 3 million euro, financed by European Commission is a support for educational system as well as for the transformation of outdated with the aim of fulfilling the needs of Kosova market and the 21 century global market.

 


 

While Kjartan Bjornsson, from European Commission Liaison Office in Kosova said that education was and remains a priority of European Union in Kosova. Project “Sector Wide Approach in Education” is of high importance for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology since in this way we will support our common aim for improvement of management in the education sector in Kosova by presenting and developing reforms through a new approach. EC, will continue to support continuously project that impact the quality increase, the education of new generations who will be able to fulfill the needs of European market as well as Kosova one.
Project was presented by Eric Woods, team leader for the project “Sector Wide Approach in Education”.
Project constitutes of three components that will change deeply our educational system. The project initially offers an action and strategic plan of drafting policies and their implementation in our educational system. Secondly, it offers a support for implementation of Curriculum of Kosova”, and thirdly it aims to offer a profile of teacher competences, a catalogue of teacher training and development of capacities and their training policies.

Representatives from MED, NGO and teachers were present in this event.

Gjilan, April 26, 2010 - As part of the "Joint History Project" with the dates April 24 to 25, KEC in cooperation with CDRSEE organized a two day training, where participants were teachers of the subject matter of the history of the region of Gjilan. The aim of this workshop was the training of teachers for using new methodologies of teaching the subject of history, using alternative sources.

At the end of the training all participants were given a set of history books and guide for their use. These books will be used as alternative sources of teachers.

Within the project "“Promotion of children’s rights in education”, funded by the European Commission, KEC and KAHCR has organized a training "Education for Human Rights with Children". In this training participated 20 students and five teachers from schools with lessons in Bosnian. Training took place in primary school "Meto Bajraktari in Reçan of Prizren.
The training topics discussed Education for Human Rights, through informal education methodology through activities based on participants' own experience. Students who attended the training were members of the School Committee on the Rights of the Child, while teachers are advisers to committees.
The purpose of this training was to increase the capacity of children, members of the School Committee on the Rights of the Child to identify cases of violation of child rights in their communities and to be active in protecting the rights of children.
This training was part of the cycle training for children from School Committee on the Rights of the Child by the participating schools.
